Soft Wash Concrete

Soft washing is typically used for cleaning exterior surfaces that are sensitive to high-pressure washing, such as roofs and delicate siding materials. However, it is possible to soft wash concrete surfaces, such as driveways and walkways.

Here are the basic steps involved in soft washing concrete:

  1. Prepare the surface: Remove any debris, loose dirt, or other materials from the surface of the concrete.
  2. Apply cleaning solution: Mix a cleaning solution according to the manufacturer’s instructions and apply it to the concrete using a soft wash spray nozzle or a soft wash proportioner. The cleaning solution should be applied at a low pressure to prevent damage to the surface.
  3. Allow the solution to work: Allow the cleaning solution to sit on the concrete for the amount of time recommended by the manufacturer, usually around 10 to 15 minutes. This allows the solution to penetrate and break down the dirt and grime on the surface.
  4. Agitate the surface: After the cleaning solution has had time to work, agitate the surface of the concrete using a soft-bristled brush or broom. This helps to loosen and remove any dirt or grime that has been loosened by the cleaning solution.
  5. Rinse the surface: After agitating the surface, rinse the concrete thoroughly using a low-pressure spray nozzle. This helps to remove the cleaning solution and any dirt or grime that has been loosened.
  6. Repeat as needed: Depending on the level of dirt and grime, it may be necessary to repeat the soft washing process to achieve the desired results.

It’s important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for any cleaning solutions used, as well as to take proper precautions to protect the surrounding area and people from harm. Additionally, it’s important to avoid using high-pressure washing techniques, as these can cause damage to the surface of the concrete and lead to costly repairs.
